Deacon in the Tundra

Since I left for ONU last fall, my little brother Deacon has begged to come and stay for a day. I was always eager to have him visit last year, but my weekends were quite busy, so I could never find the time. I even tried to convince my parents to let him stay the night, but they didn't seem to like that idea. Since the school year started, I have only been home a handful of times, and every time I visit, I get the same question from him: “When can I come to ONU?” He recently got a phone and has texted me multiple times asking when he can visit. Finally, this past weekend, I told him he could come up.

We set the time, and he was dropped off for a couple of hours. First, he received a tour of my room, and then we struggled to think of something to do. Since it was a nice day, we grabbed some friends and went outside to toss the football for about an hour and a half. Ohio State was playing later that day, so we needed to fill some more time. Deacon wanted to visit the infamous C-Store here at ONU in Mac to play pool. We created our own game, as he was never a fan of traditional pool. We played that for about an hour before it was time to head back to watch the Buckeyes. They were playing Iowa, which was expected to be a mid-level game, as Iowa is not particularly strong. Ohio State ended up winning.

During the game, Deacon decided he wanted to play Fortnite, so my roommate joined him. Since then, he has been texting me about playing Fortnite at home.

When it was time for him to leave, my parents picked us up, and we went out to dinner at Beer Barrel. It was nice to see them, especially with fall break coming up, which allows me to spend a couple of days with them. On a different note, my mom decided to drive down to Florida with my grandma, as that is where my grandma stays during the colder months. They will be in Jacksonville, which, while not on the coast, is definitely in the path of Hurricane Milton, so that will be interesting.

  1. It's so sweet that your brother got to visit you! My younger sister has been asking me if she can come see my room and I feel so guilty that it hasn't happened yet because she lives so close. I hope that your grandma and your mom are okay and don't get hit too hard by Milton.

  2. My sister does the same thing! She begs to come and I will finally get here in Ada and then she realizes there really isn't anything to do. She also loves the C-Store, but not for the games of pool, for the milkshakes. I didn't even know you had a little brother until you told me he visited...I want to meet him!
