Thanksgiving Break

It was finally time for Thanksgiving break at ONU, and the break was much needed. I have been so tired of school and honestly cannot wait for Christmas break. In the meantime, though, there is still schoolwork to focus on and finals to get through before I can head home again. Overall, I would say I had a good break. I stayed busy catching up with some hometown friends and just relaxing.

I went home Friday morning, and of course, I had to bring Pearl since this was a longer break. Things were about the same when I arrived—she still wasn’t a big fan of the other two animals. However, in a surprising turn of events, she started warming up to them. It was a pleasant surprise since she usually can’t even be within five feet of them without arching her back and hissing, ready to attack. While she was calm with my dog, her interactions with the other kitten were more interesting. She seemed to be trying to play but was definitely biting the kitten too hard and being a bit rough.

I spent the beginning of Thanksgiving week mostly just lying around and playing video games with friends. By Wednesday, though, my schedule picked up. On Wednesday, I went to Columbus with my best friend Gavin, who was in search of a one-of-one baseball card: Paul Skenes’ debut jersey patch. The Pirates, the team Skenes plays for, made an insane offer to anyone who pulled this card and gave it to them. They offered behind-the-plate tickets for the next 30 years, a softball game at PNC Park for you and 29 friends, a private tour, a meet-and-greet with Paul Skenes, two autographed jerseys and one other "unique experience" yet to be determined. Unfortunately, we couldn’t even find the box containing the packs with these cards due to high demand. While the mission was unsuccessful, I still enjoyed spending the day with Gavin.

Thursday, of course, was Thanksgiving, and I spent the day with close family, enjoying good food and quality time together. On Saturday, I watched the Ohio State game, and sadly, they embarrassed themselves by losing to Michigan's underwhelming roster this year. Ryan Day really needs to go. Later that evening, I attended my extended family’s Thanksgiving dinner. It was great to catch up with everyone, and now I’m looking forward to our Christmas party.

Overall, I had a great break filled with family and friends. It gave me the reset I needed to push through the rest of the semester.
